Henry J. Polastry, CMSGT USAF RET passed away October 16, 2012 in Kyle. He was born May 31, 1918 in West Springfield, Massachusetts.
He proudly served our country over thirty years in the Army Air Corps and Air Force. He retired from Bergstrom Air Force Base September 30, 1972. He was preceded in death by his parents Mario and Agnes Polastry; three sisters, Mary Crawford, Pauline Maruca, Agnes Bertera; brother Emil Polastry; three nephews, Louis, Robert, William, niece Roseann Maruca all from Massachusetts.
Survivors include wife and caretaker Elizabeth (Betty) Hartig Polastry. Two sons; Henry Jr. and wife Sonie from Austin; Mark Edward from Bastrop County, brother Louis (Anne), Springfield; Sisters-in-law Joyce Balboni Polastry, Alice Malone Caroline Dion and brother-in-law Robert Hartig all from West Springfield, Massachusetts. Several nieces and nephews.
Rosary was recited on Friday,Oct.19, at Harrell Funeral Home in Kyle. Mass was celebrated at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Kyle on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012. Graveside services to be at a later date at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio with full military honors.
The family thanks Dr. Grayson Smith from San Marcos for his many years of compassionate care of Henry.
