Georgia P. Bannister, 86, passed away in Buda on July 2, 2012. Georgia moved to Buda from El Paso in 2003. She was preceded in death by her first husband, George Skanse, her second, Robert Bannister, her sisters Mary and Tula, and her brothers, Frank and Anthony Pulos. She is survived by her son, Richard Skanse, daughter-in-law Susan, three grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Georgia retired in 1989 after 35 years in the U.S. Civil Service at Ft. Bliss. Born in Pocatello, Idaho she had lived in France, Germany and South Korea. In Buda she was a member of Buda United Methodist Church. Georgia loved shopping at thrift stores, spending time with her great grandchildren, and her little dog, Charlie.
Although she missed her friends in El Paso, she quickly made new friends in Buda as her quick wit and smile won over everyone she met. Georgia especially liked the company of the “Outlaws” at Constantine’s Pizzeria.
She will be laid to rest by the side of her late husband, Robert Bannister at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery.
