2013 big for Buda seniors

by SANDRA GRIZZLE

Members of the Onion Creek Senior Citizens in Buda will not meet on Thursday, Dec. 27. After the New Year, the seniors will gather again on Thursday, Jan. 3 when the doors will open at 9 a.m. in the old center. The year 2013 promises to be a big one for the senior community as the Onion Creek Senior Citizens will be moving into their beautiful new center. Watch for opening date and also a ribbon-cutting event for the public. Many new activities will also be scheduled and with the opening of the new center, a rental facility will be available for the area. If you would like to be one of the first to rent the building for an upcoming event, contact (512) 468-4451 for details.

The family of Carol Sue Gage would like to express their thanks for the many, many supporters they had for the benefit barbeque on Saturday, Dec. 15.  All proceeds will help with the funeral expenses for Carol, wife of Gerald; mother of Sue and Allen; mother-in-law of AJ; grandmother of Mikayla and Tee and friend to many.

Shirley (Mashburn) and Lloyd Schwartz will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary this week. In thinking about their 50th celebration, Shirley always said it would be at Club 21 and of course we all know what happened to that plan. An “open house” at their home will be the site for the gathering of family and friends to mark the occasion on Saturday, Dec. 29.

Rounding out the year with birthday wishes to Londa Burns, Chris Logan and Bill Reaves on Dec. 27; Charlotte Quisenberry and five-year-old Cyrus Boone LeBlanc, son of our former editor Jen Biundo, on Dec. 29; four-year-old Morgan Paige Opiela on Dec. 30; Barbara Hollis on Dec. 31.

Enjoy your New Year and all the many, many bowl games. Be safe and drive with care.
