Tolling bell in remembrance of Connecticut victims

REMEMBRANCE—Captain Liz Baldinger of the San Marcos Fire Department tolls the bell Friday morning in front of City Hall 26 times in memory of the children and adults who died in the school shooting in Newtown, CT on Dec. 14.

The cast iron fire bell hung in a tower above the former 1915 City Hall at 224 N. Guadalupe Street until 1973 and was used to summon firefighters to emergencies and to signal momentous community events. (Photo by Don Anders)
