Odds & Ends

It’s that time again, graduation time, and so it was for Kelley Jones, who graduated from Texas State on May 12 with a master’s in Public Administration. Congratulations, Kelley. She is also looking forward to another special day in her life when she and Jacob Hohertz will be married on June 23. Kelley is the daughter of Steve and Sandra Jones, granddaughter of Dolores and the late “Chuck” Jones, and Erwin and Bobby Jean Hagedorn. Jacob is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clay Hohertz and grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Brian Hohertz. Best wishes for their future.

Speaking of weddings, Amos Baker and Kristen Leonard will be married on June 9, not June 19. My apologies for the mistake. Best wishes to them also.

The Women’s Guild of St. John Lutheran Church met Saturday for a luncheon and meeting. After the lunch, Vickie Schawe gave a very inspiring program. Barbara Hanna called the meeting to order. It was reported that a new water heater and faucet was installed in the Rec Center. Good to have hot water to wash dishes. Thanks to the Men’s Group. Members of the church are reminded that the sock collection is still going on. These socks will be donated to nursing homes. Also on Sunday, May 20, the food bank offering will be collected. The money is sent to the Caldwell and Hays County food banks along with food that is collected.

Also in the long range planning on Sunday, July 1, a special service will be held to honor all military personnel that have served or are now serving. A picnic lunch will follow the service. All military personnel are welcome and urged to attend. More information soon.
If you have not sent a picture and a short history of your service, there is still time. An expansion is being made in the Uhland Community Center on the Vets Wall for more pictures. For more information, please call 512-398-3800, if no answer leave message.

Get well wishes and prayers go to Bobby Jean Hagedorn who will have hip surgery next week. Also to Ed Daugherty who is still on the “not so well” list.

Hope all had a Happy Mother’s Day. Debbie Moore and family and Brian Heideman honored “Mom” Sharon Heideman along with moms Virginia Moore (Mike’s mother) and Myrtle Heideman (Daniel’s mother) with a grilled hamburger supper and all the trimmings on Saturday evening at the Heideman home. Also enjoying the meal with the moms were Mike, Debbie, Raney and Cooper Moore; Brian Heideman and friend Erica; Clarence Heideman and Daniel Heideman. What a treat, no cooking or washing dishes.
Myrtle Heideman spent Sunday afternoon visiting daughter and son-in-law, Terry and Rick Kleen. Families are great.
