October 7-13 is National 4-H Week, which is the perfect time to join the fun and learning 4-H has to offer.  In 4-H you learn the value of helping your community, the importance of being a great leader and at the same time you have fun with friends and family.


4-H is the nation’s largest youth development program that focuses on the four-fold development of the head, heart, hands and health of young people.  Youth ages 9 (or 8 and in the 3rd grade) through 19 are eligible to join 4-H. Some clubs also offer the 4-H Clover Kids program which is open to kids ages 5 to 8. 4-H members participate in a wide variety of projects such as food and nutrition, photography and livestock while developing leadership skills and having fun.  Adults of all ages can serve as volunteer leaders providing opportunities and 4-H offers you unlimited opportunities. Start by attending a 4-H meeting:


• Buda 4-H Club - 2nd Tuesday, 7 p.m., Buda Vo-Ag Building


• Dripping Springs 4-H Club - 2nd Monday, 7 p.m., Dripping Springs Vo-Ag Building


• East San Marcos 4-H Club - 1st Thursday, 7:30 p.m., Hays County Extension Office


• Fancy Feathers 4-H Club - 3rd Tuesday, 6:30 p.m., VFW Post 6441 in Wimberley


• Hill Country 4-H Club - 3rd Tuesday, 7 p.m., San Marcos Baptist Academy


• Kyle 4-H Club - 3rd Monday, 7:30 p.m., Kyle City Hall


• 4-H Shooting Sports Club - 3rd Thursday, 7 p.m., Buda Vo-Ag Building


• West San Marcos 4-H Club - 2nd Monday, 7 p.m. (meal at 6:30), Hays County Extension Office in San Marcos


• Wimberley 4-H Club - 2nd Thursday, 7 p.m., Wimberley VFW Hall
