Central Texas Medical Center’s (CTMC) Institute for Healthy Living (IFHL) is presenting two new offerings for aging individuals aimed at improving their awareness and prevention of heart attacks and accidental falls. Stand Strong for Life, a free fall prevention seminar, and Act in Time, a free heart attack awareness and prevention program, will be offered on Feb. 2 and 9 respectively.
Both programs are free and open to any interested party. The Stand Strong class will be held from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. in the CTMC Community Classroom and Act In Time will be offered from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. in the same room the following week.
CTMC’s Institute for Healthy Living was created in 2010 to oversee the hospital’s annual HealthCheck Screening and Health Fair as well as ongoing community education classes and programs. HealthCheck 2012 is off and running with pre-registration and blood draws already taking place. At 26, the event is Hays County’s oldest and largest screening and health fair and it just keeps getting better with age. The 2012 event, which has been enhanced in a number of ways, will be held on Thursday, April 26 from 7:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. (a new shorter time) at the Embassy Suites, San Marcos.
For more information or to register for any of these events , please call 512-753-3818 or stop by the Institute for Healthy Living resource desk in the main lobby of CTMC.
