The Honor Flight Network this week transported 50 Central Texas WWII veterans to the National WWII Memorial in Washington D.C. The organization’s mission is to transport America’s veterans to Washington, D.C. to visit those memorials dedicated to honor their service and sacrifices. Honor Flight’s goal is to help every single veteran in America, willing and able of getting on a plane or a bus, to get to Washington, D.C. Through the end of 2011, Honor Flight has transported more than 81,000 WWII veterans to the nation’s capitol. Three veterans from San Marcos, (l-r) Richard Zeni, Louis Gremillion and Albert Alms, Jr., departed Austin-Bergstrom International Airport Tuesday. (Photo by Sandy L. Stevens)
