Holiday Heroes Blood Drive


Life saving blood is traditionally in short supply during the winter months, due to the holidays, travel schedules, inclement weather and illness. The Hays County Sheriff’s Office is hosting three blood drives in coordination with The Blood and Tissue Center of Central Texas to ensure this precious gift is available throughout the holiday season and beyond. The goal is to receive a minimum of 100 donors. Coordinator Jeff Jordan reminds folks that one blood donation can save two lives.


All donated blood from the drives will go to hospitals that service the citizens of Hays County: Central Texas Medical Center, Seton Medical Center Hays, St. David’s Hospital, Brackenridge Medical Center and Dell Children’s.


The blood drives will be held at three locations around Hays County:


HEB – Dripping Springs
598 E. Hwy 290

Friday, Dec. 28 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Hays County Government Center

Friday, Dec. 28, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Free holiday piano recital at San Marcos Library
Enjoy a piano recital featuring holiday music presented by the Oh Piano Studio at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 20 at the San Marcos Public Library. The recital will feature solo performances, group presentations and caroling with the audience. Students range from elementary school age to adult. The event is free and open to the public.
