Howard Ray “Buck” Leath (1930-2012)

Howard Ray “Buck” Leath, 82 passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, August 30, 2012, with his family by his side. He was born May 12, 1930, in Bells, Texas and grew up in Buda. He graduated from Buda High School in 1948. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, came home to Buda where he met and married Mary Lois Seaton in 1953. They had four children and moved throughout Texas while he worked as a highway foreman, before settling in Austin in 1969.


Buck is survived by wife Mary; son Gene Leath and his wife Shelia; daughter LaDonna K. Shirley and husband Rick; son Bryan Leath and wife Kayvon; daughter Elisha Wipff and husband John; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends.


Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, September 4 at Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills Funeral Home in Austin. Military honors service followed at graveside at Martin Goforth Cemetery, Buda.
