Saturday morning Jesse W. Hauptrief, our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, left us to go be with the Lord; however, we take comfort in knowing that we will see him again, fully restored.
He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Dorothy, and his children, four sons and one daughter, son Jesse Jr. and wife Elaine from Melissa, daughter Kay Guenther and husband Wayne from San Antonio, son Lawrence (Larry) and wife Patsy from Johnson City, son Kerry and wife Shirley from New Braunfels, and son Terry and wife DeAnn from Mountain City. He was also greatly loved and is remembered by his nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Jesse owned and operated the Kyle Motor Company for 40 years. He enjoyed serving his community and hometown of Kyle as mayor of Kyle for eight years, past president and member of the Lions Club, Master Mason and longtime member of Masonic Live Oak Lodge in Kyle, deacon in the Baptist Church, and a member of Good Sam’s Travel Club and past president of Longhorn and CenTex Good Sam’s Club. Pallbearers include Lawrence (Larry) Hauptrief, Wayne Guenther, Kerry Hauptrief, Tim Hauptrief, Daron Hauptrief, and Heath Kyzar. Honorary pallbearers are Jesse Hauptrief, Jr. and Terry Hauptrief
Funeral Services were held Wednesday, December 5, 2012, in the Pennington Memorial Chapel, with Pastor Dennis Spire, of the Calvary Baptist Church, officiating. Graveside service followed at the Kyle Cemetery and was performed by the Masonic Lodge of Kyle.
