‘A Roll in the Hay’ to benefit Bastrop ranchers

STAFF REPORT

Plan to attend “A Roll in the Hay” benefit concert at the Cotton Gin in Maxwell on Feb. 12. The fundraiser will help ranchers and other livestock owners affected by the severe drought and last year’s Bastrop wildfires. Haylift To Texas event organizer Jean Crawford said most of the money raised will offset the transportation costs of bringing in hay from other states.

Event performers include Rich O’Toole, John Wayne Schulz (of American Idol), Matt Begley & Bittersweet Whiskey, Bo Phillips and Brian Keane, Shy Blakeman, Seth Candan, Nick Verzosa, Kimberly Kelly and the Texas Renegade Band, Mark Alan Atwood and Brimstone, Dewey Wayne, and Russell Ray & Ken Reynolds.

Silent auction items are being donated by such country artists as Miranda Lambert, Pat Green, Jerry Jeff Walker, Lee Ann Womack and Stoney Larue. Cowboys from the Professional Bull Riders, organized by retired World Champion Scott Mendes, will be on hand for bull riding.

The Cotton Gin, at 441 Railroad St. is located half way between Lockhart and Martindale on Hwy 142. For more information, contact: Jean Crawford, 512-475-4818, [email protected].
