Novelist Riordan to hold rare reading
The Wittliff Collections at Texas State University presents a talk by internationally renowned novelist Rick Riordan followed by a Q&A with the audience at 7 p.m. Friday, May 11 at the LBJ Student Center Ballroom (next to the Alkek Library).
For the kids
Hope & Love 4 Kids will be hosting the 2nd annual Spaghetti Dinner and Silent Auction fundraiser at Historic Kyle City Hall from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Saturday, May 12. This charity event supports the Hope & Love 4 Kids Hendricks Hope Scholarship Foundation. This is a “restaurant-like dinner” where supporters can expect to be served in an historic venue, choose from menu options, dine, network and shop the silent auction. The menu will be catered by Bailey’s Burgers and includes spaghetti and meatballs, salad, garlic bread and dessert. Tea, water, and after-dinner coffee is available and guests may also bring wine to accompany their meal. For further information write [email protected]. Tickets can also be purchased at the door the night of the event for $20 per ticket.
Grand opening
Put on your spring finest (or a pair of shorts and a T-shirt) and head over to the new Kyle Library grand opening gala from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, May 12. There will be music and speeches and tours and food. Come see your friends and neighbors and help celebrate the completion of this long-awaited project.
Hunter education
The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is sponsoring a Hunter Education Course, mandatory for anyone born on or after Sept. 2, 1972. The two-day course is from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. May 12-13 at Cabela’s. This is a must for public lands, national forrest and grass lands and out of state hunting. Call 262-0405 for information.
