Pedro “Pete” Rodriguez, Jr., 81, went home to be with our Heavenly Father Oct. 28, 2012. He was a great husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Born in Crystal City on Dec. 7, 1930, he settled in San Marcos where he met his lovely wife Velia (Betty) of 65 years.
Pete and Betty raised five children: David Carlos (Butch); Patricia Ann (Patty) and her husband Larry Socias; Leonard and wife Diane; John Paul and William Joseph (Billy) and his wife Shawna. He is also survived by his grandkids Paula Karen, Jackie Lynn, David Carlos, Jr., LJ, Peter Daniel, Joseph, Paul and Jacob and many great-grandchildren. Pete believed that family comes first and that’s how he lived his life.
Pete was successful in many areas as a business man, a school board member who later became president, a city inspector and a County Commissioner. Pete was a true pillar in the community.
Funeral Mass will be 2 p.m. Oct. 31, 2012 at St. John’s Catholic Church in San Marcos. In keeping with his wishes, Pete will then be cremated, his ashes laid to rest at Memory Lawn Memorial Park at a later date.
