Check It Out
by KATHY LUCKETT
Everywhere you look, people are wearing orange. It is the hot new color for this summer. And it is the hot color for the cool kids at the very cool Summer Reading Program at the Buda Library. And this summer is cooler than ever with different activities for all ages planned by the librarians.
The fun kicks off with the big celebration at Buda City Park on Thursday, June 7 from 5:30 until 7:30. Kids can pick up their free orange T-shirts, courtesy of the Friends of the Library.
The librarians have invited Lucas Miller, a singing zoologist for some fun on Thursday afternoon, June 14. And favorites like Dinosaur George and the miniature horses will be returning for another exciting summer!
Of course, the real purpose of the Summer Reading Program is to keep our kids reading while they are not in school. Summers should have plenty of time for swimming and bike riding and watching fireflies and eating homemade ice cream. Reading is the way that imaginations travel around the world and envision wonders yet unseen.
Watch carefully! There will be another essay contest this summer! And you can “Get a Clue at the Buda Public Library!”
