Neoma Whetstone, 89, of Dripping Springs, passed away on Thursday, May 31, 2012, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Neoma Tricia Beever was born on December 8, 1922, in Corona, New Mexico to Viola Sanders Beever and Edward Leroy Beever. She attended Texas Tech and received a Business degree. She married Joseph Daniel Whetstone and taught high school in San Antonio for many years until she became a full time mom with the birth of her daughter, Jayne Whetstone. The family moved to their ranch west of Dripping Springs in 1966, where she lived happily the remainder of her life. Neoma was an active member and Sunday School teacher at Dripping Springs First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Jayne Rybak and son-in-law Robert Rybak of Austin; granddaughter Heather Lange, grandson Ryan Lange, and sister Novella Sorrell, all of Dripping Springs.
A gathering of friends and family took place Saturday, June 2, 2012 from 4-7 p.m. at Harrell Funeral Home and a service was conducted Sunday, June 3, 2012, at Dripping Springs First Baptist Church with burial following at Phillips Cemetery in Dripping Springs.
