Two days after a young woman was struck and killed while walking on Interstate 35 in Kyle, police say they are pursuing leads but have yet to identify the woman or locate the vehicle that fled after hitting her, according to a Kyle city spokesman.
The woman was struck in the hit-and-run shortly after 10 p.m. on the northbound side of I-35 north of Center Street.
Kyle police investigators are asking the public to help them identify the victim, who appears to be a Hispanic woman in her early 20s with a medium build and dark brown, medium-length hair, according to city spokesman Jerry Hendrix. She was wearing white Ralph Lauren canvas-type shoes, pink striped socks, blue jeans, blue fingernail polish, a pink T-shirt and a blue lightweight jacket.
Police are also looking for the vehicle or vehicles that hit the woman, Hendrix said, as they await the results of an autopsy conducted Thursday morning to establish the cause of death and to collect any evidence that may be useful in determining the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Anyone with any information about the possible identity of the victim or the vehicle(s) that may have been involved is asked to contact Kyle police at 512-268-0859.
