STAFF REPORT

Holly Smith Raymond and Robert Limon took their formal oaths of office last Wednesday as the newest members of the Hays CISD Board of Trustees.

Both are holding elected office for the first time, have been active in Hays CISD for a number of years, are parents of current students, and both have accounting and finance backgrounds.

With the addition of Raymond as an At-Large member and Limon representing District 3, the Board now has four women, one of whom is African American, as well as two Hispanic members.

“The Board of Trustees is now the most diverse it has ever been,”  according to Tim Savoy, district spokesperson.

Raymond, a 1996 graduate of Hays High School,  holds a Master’s in Public Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin. She is the vice president of finance and operations for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Texas. She and her husband Jeff have three children, Madalyn, Beck and Bristol, who are students at Barton Middle School and Negley Elementary School.

She currently serves as treasurer for the Hays CISD Education Foundation and is a member of the Barton Middle School and Negley Elementary School Parent Teacher Associations (PTAs).

Limon helped organize the first PTAs at Tom Green Elementary and Barton Middle School and has served as president of both organizations. He recently organized the first-ever Hays Heart Classic Basketball Tournament that raised money to screen student athletes for an often undetected heart disease associated with sudden cardiac death.

Limon is a 2001 St. Edward’s University graduate with a Bachelor’s in Business Management.

He is currently owner of Central Texas Productions, a start–up media production business. Limon and his wife Norma have two children, Alyssa, a 2010 graduate of Hays High School, and Bobby, who will be a senior at Hays High School.
