The reactions were mixed throughout the small crowd that gathered Monday afternoon outside Veggytopia on the corner of FM 150 W. and FM 2770 to watch a stand of live oaks being cleared. Robert Moore of JC Mize Construction Services stopped by to oversee his project with assurances that 60 replacement trees would be planted throughout Kyle to compensate for the oaks being uprooted. The corner is being cleared to make way for a Walgreens Pharmacy and a Sonic Drive-In coming down the development pipeline. And although some lamented the loss of the old oak trees and the shady corner, there were more than a few who were looking forward to some tater tots and a cherry slush being roller skated to their car windows.
