Summer activities at Buda Library

Check it out

by MELINDA HODGES

It’s almost summer. That means it’s almost time to have a great time at the Buda Public Library. There will be an amazing number of things to do at the library.

The Texas Summer Reading Club and Texas Teens Read Club will start on June 4. Be sure to come to the library to pick up reading logs.

We’ll kick-off all the summer fun on June 7 at Buda City Park Pavilion at 5:30 p.m. Come for train rides, crafts and free t-shirts for kids from the Friends of the Buda Library.

The Teen Summer Kick-off will be on June 8 at the library, 5-7:30 p.m. There will be food, games, and fun!

Starting on June 11, we will have weekly programs for children entering kindergarten and older and teens. There will be a singing zoologist, painting, composting with worms and much, much more! Registration is required for most classes. Go to www.budalibrary.org to sign up.

Thanks to everyone that participated in the Friends’ Short Story contest! The stories were a blast to read. Congratulations to the winners: 1st Place – “Who Knows Best” by Robert S. Barton; 2nd Place – “One More Hour” by Janet Larkin; 3rd Place – “A Difference Between Day and Night” by Caitlin Hernandez

Coming up at the library, Margie Crisp, author of “River of Contrasts: the Texas Colorado,” will hold a signing and presentation 1-2:30 p.m. June 2.
