Sponsors needed for Art of Leadership at Elm Grove
The Elm Grove Elementary Dad’s Club is bringing “The Art of Leadership – The Leader in Me” program to the school starting in the fall and business community sponsors and coaches are needed. Through this program, students experience the reward of making a positive change in the community, ultimately elevating their expectations for themselves and for the world in which they live. After participation, students develop leadership, management and coaching skills. Community leaders and business owners are encouraged to attend a Business Leadership Social from 8-9 a.m. June 21 at Elm Grove Elementary in Buda to learn more about sponsoring and volunteering for this important program. Contact Kathy Faulks, principal, at 512-268-8440 for more information.

Matthew Pope named Simon Middle School principal
The Board of Trustees for the Hays Consolidated Independent School District approved the promotion Monday of Matthew Pope from assistant principal to principal at Simon Middle School. Pope’s selection continues a trend this year of selecting campus leaders from within the district. Pope has worked for the district as Simon’s assistant principal since 2010. During this time, he helped lead the campus in achieving double-digit gains in math, science, and social studies scores. Prior to coming to Hays CISD, Pope was a campus learning facilitator and middle school teacher at campuses in Victoria ISD. Pope replaces Michelle Chae at Simon, who was named earlier this year as principal at Lehman High School.
