What do books and an old piano have in common? Not much, unless that piano is in the Tobias Elementary School library. As the school year came to a close, the specially painted (bright yellow with teal blue accents...plus polka dots) piano was autographed by an equally special student, Tobias 4th-grader Shelby Passmore. Shelby was the solo winner in librarian Karen Kessel’s “Boogie With Books” contest, in which a student had to read a book, write a ditty or jingle about it, then play it for her (or his) class. The award? Getting to autograph the piano, which Shelby did after reading Tony Abbott’s book, “Underworlds: The Battle Begins.”
