Elizabeth “Liz” Blockinger (1964-2012)

Elizabeth “Liz” Blockinger, 47, of Manchaca, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on April 22, 2012. Liz was born on September 2, 1964 in Youngs-town, Ohio. She grew up in Youngstown and worked for Altronics for almost 10 years before becoming a mother. She then decided to be a stay-at-home mom and homemaker which brought her much joy.


Liz moved to Manchaca in 2002 where she enjoyed mentoring children at Menchaca Elementry, camping, fishing, music, family and many friends. In November, she participated in the annual “Race for a Cure,” a cause she was passionate about.


Liz was preceded in death by father George “Swede” Johnson, grandparents Hiram and Helen Johnson, and William and Hannah Richards.


Liz is survived by her loving husband Kevin, and daughter Hannah, mother Nancy Kunovich and step-father Charles Kunovich and step-mother June Johnson. She is also survived by brothers Glenn Johnson and wife Norma, Eric Johnson, Duke Johnson and wife Stacy; sisters Lynda Self and husband Carl, Christine Johnson and Julie Johnson; her aunt, Marianne Myers and cousins Tim Roche and Michelle Coffman. She also had many nieces and nephews that she was very close to.


Family and friends are invited to visitation from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 25 at Harrell Funeral Home in Austin. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 26, at Westminister Presbyterian Church, 3208 Exposition Blvd., Austin, TX 78703.


The family would like to thank all the staff at Hospice Austin and Texas Oncology for their compassionate care.
