Scholarship opportunities on horizon

Dorper Sheep Association Scholarship
The Texas Hill Country Dorper Sheep Association will award two college scholarships in memory of one of the state’s pioneers in the Dorper sheep industry. The scholarships, valued at $1,000 each, are open to any Texas resident. The scholarships have been launched in memory of Brad Bernhard, who died of cancer at the age of 48 in 2011. Bernhard, who lived in Fredericksburg, was one of the original founders of the THCDA and one of the earliest owners of Dorper sheep in Texas. Deadline for applications to be received is April 15, 2012. Laws Photography Scholarship
The Sarah Elizabeth Laws Memorial Scholarship is being offered to a Texas high school senior who, through their photography and storyline, demonstrates Sarah’s own attributes of love for family, generosity to friends and a passion for photography.


Applicants must send three written recommendations, an original photograph of an eccentric/interesting person (16x20 black and white prints, hand enlarged from film negatives, no digital photos), a 200-500 word narrative describing what photography means to them and a 100 word or less story/motivation behind the photo.


Send photos, narratives and letters of recommendations to the Clary Foundation, 402 Heart Ridge, San Marcos, TX 78666 by March 31, 2012.


CTMC Scholarship
Central Texas Medical Center is offering $1,000 scholarships to regional high school students to be used to defray the cost of attending a university, college, community college or vocational/trade school. Awards are based on community involvement, work or organization experience, financial need and academic achievement.
