Hays County 4-H members take honors at stockshow

Seventy-one Hays County 4-H members recently participated at the San Antonio Livestock Exposition with their livestock projects. They competed against 4-H and FFA members from across the state of Texas.


In the Breeding Swine Show, Buda 4-H member Kaitlyn Eben placed eighth with her Yorkshire breeding gilt. Kyle 4-H member Holden Gardner received ninth place honors with his Duroc gilt. Ranson Moore, also a member of the Kyle 4-H club, placed second with his Duroc breeding gilt and second with his Berkshire gilt. His brother, Cooper Moore, also a member of the Kyle 4-H club, placed fourth with his Duroc gilt and ninth with his Hampshire breeding gilt.


In the Market Barrow Show, Tenley Lehman, a member of the Kyle 4-H Club, placed first with her Crossbred barrow. Carleigh Funk, Buda 4-H Club member, placed fourth with her market goat project. Dana John, also a member of the Buda 4-H club, placed second in her class with her medium wool market lamb.


At the Houston Livestock Show, the Moore brothers were at it again with Cooper placing first with his Hampshire barrow in the Market Barrow Show and Ranson placing seventh with his Duroc barrow. Buda 4-H’ers Dana and Grady John also placed in the Market Lamb competition.
