Seton Medical Center Hays annual Community Health Fair
Seton Medical Center Hays annual Community Health Fair will take place 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 27, and includes the opportunity to sign up for breast cancer screening appointments at later dates. Information on breast cancer also will be available at the event. Health fair is at Seton Medical Center Hays, Kyle.


 


The Texas Mamma Jamma Ride
The annual bike ride raises funds for Seton and ten other local agencies helping to fight breast cancer on Saturday, Oct. 27. Visit www.mammajammaride.org to learn how to join a team or donate.


 


San Marcos Cemetery Walk
Fifteen San Marcos High School drama students will share the stories of local veterans buried in the San Marcos City Cemetery during the upcoming “If the Dead Could Talk” Cemetery Walk. Drama teacher Jack Moore and his students have been rehearsing for the event, sponsored jointly by Friends of the San Marcos Cemetery and the Heritage Association of San Marcos. Join the fun from 3-5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at the San Marcos Cemetery on Ranch Road 12. Tickets are available at the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce office or by calling (512) 392-3552. Tickets will also be available at the gate on the day of the event.


 


Dia de los Muertos at the Centro Cultural Hispano de San Marcos
This centuries-old tradition of celebrating the lives of loved ones who have passed on takes place from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. and again from 2-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at the Centro Cultural Hispano de San Marcos. There will be classes on papel picado, sugar-skull making, an alter-making art class and face painting. Participants will then parade around the Centro neighborhood. Refreshments will be served from 5:30-8 p.m.


 


Get jazzed by the Navy
United States Navy Band Jazz Commodores are coming to Texas from the nation’s capital. They will perform at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, at the San Marcos High School Performing Arts Center. Tickets are free but you must call ahead to reserve. Contact (512) 245-2651 for more information.
