What they’re saying: “I believe in what we do, and the kids believe in what we do. Even though we’ve had some frustrating setbacks, the kids showed up at 7:15 a.m. Monday morning ready to go to work and prepare for Seguin. I’m proud of the fact that they have kept fighting through adversity we’re facing, and that says a lot about their character... We’ll keep pushing to get better and keep making improvements,” Lehman head coach Todd Raymond
Players to watch:
Lehman: RB Paul Brown, DB Tyler Hyss, DB/TE Tyler Dodero, DL Kris Hernandez, OL Kenny Higgins, QB Paul Matthews
Seguin: RB/DE PJ Hall, QB Walker Franz, DT Hunter Ullrich, DE Travis Pescatello, RB Colton Applewhite, WR Ty Miles, OL Rivonte Chizer
Intangibles: On the heels of last week’s sobering loss to a tough Alamo Heights team, the Lobos continue their slog through District 27-4A. This week’s opponent is no slouch either, led by Hall, a bruising 6-foot-1, 250-pound game changer at running back and defensive end. The Matadors gave Heights a run for its money in a 39-32 loss on Oct. 5 before struggling last week against winless Clemens. They’re fighting to hold onto the fourth and final playoff spot, so don’t expect them to cut Lehman any slack. The Lobos are still trying to find an offensive formula that puts points on the board. Lehman has averaged just 9.4 points and 210 yards per game, having mostly abandoned a passing attack in favor of Brown charging up the middle behind a big offensive line.
Hays Free Press prediction: Seguin 21, Lehman 7
