The big event for the Onion Creek Senior Citizens in Buda is the annual membership meeting, live auction and lunch on Thursday, March 8. The 29 annual membership meeting starts at 9:30 a.m. Four members will be elected to the board of directors, three for three-year terms and one for a one-year term.
The fun begins at 10:30 a.m. with a live auction. Some of the many items in the auction are: several beautiful quilts, pottery, art, gift certificates, home baked cakes, pies and cookies. Leroy Opiela will serve as our auctioneer along with a number of volunteers. At 12:15 p.m., a beef and chicken fajita lunch will be served for a cost of $8 per plate.
Mark your calendar to be there on March 8 and help the seniors add to their building fund for a new senior center.
Lee Rickman, Amanda (Simon) Rickman and Lindsey (Simon) Finlay will open “Wildflour Cakery” in the building on Main Street next to the Red Door. The Simon sisters, both Hays grads, and Lee Rickman, Amanda’s mother-in-law, will offer a variety of sweets along with special baked items for weddings and parties. Watch for an opening soon.
