Plan ahead for the summer

Check it out

by CARA WAITS

Mark your calendars for fun activities this summer. It’s never too early to start planning exciting summer activities for your children. Studies have shown that children who participate in a Summer Reading Program improve their reading skills thereby increasing their chances for success in all areas of school and life. It is recommended that children of all ages read at least 15 minutes a day, silently or aloud, to gain benefits and improvement in their reading skills.

This summer Kyle Public Library will offer the annual summer reading program, “Get a Clue @ the Library.”  Children and adults may register beginning June 1. You will receive a calendar of events and a reading log on which a participant may track the number of minutes or hours read.

There will also be entertaining and educational activities as well. Come kick off the summer with Lucas Miller’s “Animals Rock” and find the magic in reading with Magician Cody Fisher, plus many more.  Join us at the new library this summer to sign-up for the summer reading program and “check out” the collection for some good reads.
