The consecration of David Goeke as a Licensed Lay Deacon was held in St. John Lutheran Church on Sunday at 3 p.m. Participants included sons Rev Aaron Goeke, liturgist, Rev. Paul Goeke, lector, and Timothy Goeke, lector. Proclaimer Rev. Michael Newman and other pastors of the Lutheran church also took part in the service. Soloist was Aviana Burkepile of Kyle, and Pamela Fischer accompanied her on piano. After the inspiring service, refreshments were served to the many members of the family, relatives, friends and members of St. John. Members of St. John welcome David Goeke to our fold. Thanks to all who prepared, served and hosted the event and to Dwight Schneider who baked the delicious cake.
Despite the windy and cool weather on the 26th, Raney and Cooper Moore and a group of young men enjoyed the birthday party (Raney’s on Oct. 16 and Cooper’s on the 24th) at Paw Paw and Nana’s house (Danny and Sharon Heideman). The group enjoyed various games, hamburger supper and just having fun. Raney and Cooper are the sons of Mike and Debbie Moore, who chaperoned the event out on the farm.
Coming for a visit with relatives in Texas are Emil (Sonny) and Connie Wisian of Bakersfield, Calif. Last Friday, after enjoying lunch at Chisholm Trail Bar-B-Que in Lockhart, they accompanied Sonny’s sister, Elie Schawe of San Marcos, to visit with cousin Myrtle Heideman. The Wisians were houseguests of Schawe while visiting with nieces and nephews in this area.
Work continues on Club 21 Bar and Grill in Uhland. A lot of folks are anxiously awaiting the completion.
