Hays senior soccer player Parker Thornton signed a national letter of intent to continue his playing career at NCAA Division I Northern Illinois University on February 2.
Thornton was named the district’s offensive player of the year as a junior at Hays, helping the Rebels to a 22-2-1 overall record and a spot in the area round of the playoffs.
“I have been very fortunate at hays to have many great players come through my program,” Hays head coach Jason Burnett said. “Then you get an athlete like Parker that comes through your program and blows you away with his ability. His actions on the field are so effortless and fluid that you find yourself, even as a coach, just watching wondering what is he going to do next? I wish nothing but the best for him in the future and I’m sure he will succeed at the next level.”
