Take note of upcoming UIL eligibility date
Oct 5 is the date that the UIL will use to determine whether a child is eligible to participate in extracurricular activities based on “No Pass, No Play.” School spokesperson Tim Savoy said if a child is failing based on his or her course grade as, of this date they become not eligible to play. To return to play, they would have to be passing at the nine-week report card mark. The critical thing to remember is that the six-week mark is used to determine eligibility. Students should turn in all assignments and not have any zeros. After this date, it will be the report card that matters. The first six-week eligibility mark is to make sure every student in Texas has an even playing field, since some districts are on a six-week cycle and others are on a nine-week cycle.

The event is from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Oct. 6 at Austin Community College, Eastview Campus.
