With the holidays just around the corner, many families will be looking for something to do with the kids when they aren’t in school. Classic Christmas movies and TV shows are a fun way to share the holidays with youngsters.


What To Do With The Kids (WTDWTK) recently re-released one of its more popular “Special Reports” listing favorite movies and TV programs for the season. Parents around the world chimed in by voting. Because of several ties, the Top 10 list actually includes 13 selections:

“It’s A Wonderful Life” (1946)


“A Christmas Story” (1983)


“A Charlie Brown Christmas” (1965 – Animated)


“Miracle on 34th Street” (1947)


“A Christmas Carol” (1951)


“Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer” (1964 – Animated)


“Frosty the Snowman” (1969 – Animated)


“White Christmas” (1954)


“The Polar Express” (2004 – Animated)


“National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” (1989)


“Home Alone” (1990)


“A Muppet Christmas Carol” (1992)


Honorable mentions go to “Holiday Inn” (1942); “Elf” (2004); “The Santa Clause” (1994); and “The Grinch” (2000).


*The original, Chuck Jones-animated movie “How The Grinch Stole Christmas” beat the Ron Howard live action movie “The Grinch” by a 3-to-1 margin.
