SUBMITTED REPORT
The 18th annual meeting of the Texas Regional Collaboratives (TRC) drew more than 600 attendees, including teachers, professors, policymakers, and professional development providers from around the state. The Hays CISD teacher representative chosen to attend was Boyd Vladyka from Elm Grove Elementary. Hays Superintendent Dr. Jeremy Lyon and wife Dr. Ellen Lyon also attended as special guests.
Held June 27-29 inĀ Austin, the TRC meeting was an opportunity for teachers to honor and celebrate their successes, share effective and innovative instructional strategies, learn from renowned researchers and education leaders, and network professionally. Sixty Hays CISD elementary educators received professional development through the TRC this year by participating in a Regional Collaborative based in UT’s College of Natural Sciences and led by Dr. Ruth Franks
TRC is a professional development program offering training to more than 10,000 PK-12 educators in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) each year. TRC services are supported by the Texas Education Agency as well as corporate and foundation partners such as Shell, AT&T, El Paso Corporation, and the Cynthia and George Mitchell Foundation.
