School board election early voting begins April 30
Early voting for the Hays CISD Board of Trustees runs April 30 to May 8 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (with extended hours on April 30 and May 7). Voters may go to either Kyle City Hall at 100 W. Center Street or the Hays CISD Administration Building at 21003 Interstate 35 in Kyle. There are no locations in Buda for this election. On Election Day, May 12, polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. On that day, voters must go to their single district polling location. Lehman High PrincipalĀ RuisingerĀ resigns
Lehman High School Principal Don Ruisinger will be resigning at the end of this school year due to health reasons. District administrators said the replacement process will involve input from campus staff and an interview committee including campus and district administrators, teachers and parents. The committee plans to take a recommendation to the Hays CISD Board of Trustees in May.
Hays health students to host blood/bone marrow match drive
Hays High School Practicum in Health Science students are hosting a blood drive from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesday, May 1 at Hays High School. At the same time, they are hosting Be The Match, a bone marrow registry from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Bone marrow match registry involves a simple cotton swab of the inside of the cheek. Marrow candidates must be between 18 and 59 years old. Blood donors should eat a large meal and drink non-caffeinated fluids before donating, must be at least 17 years old and weigh a minimum of 115 pounds. All donors and bone marrow match registrants must bring a valid photo ID. Pre-register at [email protected].
New college planning tool for high school students
High school students can now use a free step-by-step tool from the College Board to navigate the planning and application process. The board’s website, BigFuture.org, contains information on colleges, majors, scholarships and financial aid. Students can also map out a plan based on their current grade level and financial and academic preparedness. Visit www.BigFuture.org for more information.
