Justice of the Peace Scott Cary enjoyed the beautiful Texas countryside and communities in his ride from Houston to Austin as he participated in his sixth consecutive MS-150 Bike Ride this past weekend. As always, his goal was to finish….he did. Congratulations!

Healthy Kids Day is Saturday, April 28 at the Buda YMCA. This event is free and open to the public from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. The goal is to encourage kids and families to adopt healthy habits. Activities include fitness testing, sport skill challenges, water safety, face painting, rock wall, bouncy house, booths for local health vendors and refreshments. Remember it is free so get the kids and come on out on Saturday.

The wiener dogs will take over Buda this weekend with the 15th annual Country Fair and Wiener Dog Races sponsored by the Buda Lions Club. All events take place in Buda City Park with public parking at a “Park-and-Ride” location on Cabela’s Drive. Parking is $5 per car and round-trip bus rides are free. Entry fee to the park is $3 for 12 and older. Races will start at 10 a.m. and run throughout the two-day event. There will be lots of activities in the park along with many food and drink booths.

Also on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., Buda Drug Store will participate in the National Take Back Medication Initiative. Drop off your unused or expired drugs for safe disposal at Buda Drug Store, 203 Railroad Street.

The Wildflour Cakery & Boutique is now open at 316 North Main Street in downtown Buda. Stop by and taste some of their many special goodies.
