E-books: The wave of the future

Check it out

by JAMES WILLIAMS

I must admit, the first time I saw someone using an e-reader, I was intrigued. However, when they told me they had to purchase all the books on their device, I wasn’t too interested. I use the local library a lot. Even after our library began to offer e-books, I still wasn’t too enthused. Then, I received an e-reader as a Christmas gift. It only took one day, along with tremendous help from the library staff, to get me really hooked on e-books!

You must remember when you got your first cell phone, how timid you were at first, and now how you never leave home without it. Well, I am the same way with my e-reader.

Think about the times you have gone to the doctor’s office and taken a book to read while waiting.  Now, I take a library with me. Not only can I download up to five books at a time from my local library, there are virtually thousands of books available online that are either free or very reasonable.

Since I have started using my e-reader, my visits to the library have tripled. I used to visit the library about four times a month. Now, I am in the library two or three times a week!

So get on board the e-book train. It is an investment that will bring you hours of joy. We are blessed in Buda that our library staff is knowledgeable and very, very helpful with using e-readers.
