Thank you, senior center benefactors

Buda Bits

by SANDRA GRIZZLE

Thank you to all who participated in the 29th annual membership meeting, auction and lunch held last Thursday at the Onion Creek Senior Citizens Center in Buda (see photos, pg. 2C). The event netted over $8,200 which benefited the building fund for a new senior center. Much of the credit for the successful auction goes out to Buda resident Leroy Opiela who served as auctioneer. He made the auction such a fun event that everyone gladly gave money. Thanks also to United Heritage Credit Union for their generous donation and to all the many people that opened their pocketbooks to help. More thanks to Tete and Annette Rodriguez for the wonderful beef and chicken fajitas they prepared; and to Fire Chief Clay Huckaby and his firemen who helped serve lunch.

The senior center is very fortunate to have so many wonderful members that freely give of their time and talents to make the organization such a pleasant place. New members are always welcome. Come by the center on Thursdays and see what we have to offer. The doors open at 9 a.m. The senior center is located at 401 Barton’s Crossing, just off FM 2770. For more information call 468-4451.

Wanda and Vince Geraci celebrated their tenth wedding anniversary on Saturday, March 10 at the Onion Creek Senior Center. Even though the anniversary was on the 9th, family and friends made the day very special. Rather than giving gifts, the invited guests gave food items that were contributed to the food pantry at the Buda United Methodist Church.
