Hays County Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Beth Smith swore in the men and women of the Kyle Fire Department on Saturday at the firefighters’ annual banquet in Kyle. The fire department is composed of more than 70 volunteers, 16 full-time and 10 part-time employees who fielded more than 2,000 calls including house fires, cardiac arrests, vehicle wrecks, grass fires, drug overdoses and other emergencies in 2011.
