Beginning Bobcat Camp gets sixth graders primed for new year

The Barton Middle School Bobcat Camp theme was “Safari” and hundreds of new Barton Bobcats were initially as wide-eyed as if they’d been on a trek in Africa. It was all an exercise in orientation for the incoming sixth graders at Barton, with the frequent question of “Are you ready?” just about as frequently being answered with “I’m not sure.” By the time the day-long activity of tours, ID photos, and the huge amounts of pizza had been consumed, most all of the new Bobcats were beginning to show the hoped-for degree of self-confidence they’ll enjoy the first day of school.
