Inspectors rate food vendor below average

STAFF REPORT


Hays County health inspectors rated about 20 eateries in Kyle and about a dozen in Buda in March, finding only one that was below average.


Kyle food servers
Exemplary (0 demerits): Dollar General, Domino’s Pizza, Family Dollar Store, Sac-N-Pac at 201 High Road, The Sweet Stuff, Texas Pie Co.


Above average: Railroad Bar-B-Q, 3 demerits; Sac-N-Pac on I-35 at Bunton Road, 3; Walgreens, 3; Los Vega Restaurante, 4; Super Donuts, 4; Target, 4; Shipley Donuts, 6; Dairy Queen, 7; Kyle Fast Stop, 7; Taqueria Huentitan, 7; Tex Best Travel Center, 7.


Average: Golden Chick, 9 demerits; The Motley Menagerie, 10.


Below average: Kyle Food Mart, 575 E. FM 150, received 16 demerits for bacon, eggs and cheese that were not cold enough, four packages of expired hot dogs and a block of cheese on the retail shelf, and other violations, according to an inspection report.


Buda food servers
Exemplary (0 demerits): Chili’s Grill and Bar, Cracker Barrel, Longhorn Cantina, Starbucks, Taco Bell.


Above average: Buda Shell Self Serve, 3 demerits; Garcia’s Restaurant, 3; Pizza Hut, 3.


Average: H-E-B, 10 demerits; Sac-N-Pac at 204 FM 2001, 11; Sonic, 11.
