What they’re saying: “You dream about games like this from back when you were a little kid,” Christian Rodriguez, Hays cornerback after the Rebels intercepted three passes for touchdowns against Clemens.

Players to Watch:

Hays: QB Caleb Kimbro, WR Granger Studdard, OL William Trevillion, OL Reed Darragh, Slot receiver Taven Mayberry, WR Shawn Leerssen, DE Kyle Cox, LB Devin Jennings, CB Christian Rodriguez, CB Jared Rodriguez, LB Colin Hubert, LB Brandon Poole, DE Daniel Minor.

Seguin: RB/DE PJ Hall, QB Walker Franz, DT Hunter Ullrich, DE Travis Pescatello, RB Colton Applewhite, WR Ty Miles, OL Rivonte Chizer

Intangibles: Seguin has one of its strongest teams in years and the winner of Thursday night’s game will leave Shelton Stadium right in the middle of the District 27-4A race. The loser will more than likely still make the playoffs, but the Rebels don’t want to think about that prospect. Hays’ goal coming into 2012 was to repeat as district champions and now the Rebels get that chance. If Hays wins out against Seguin, Champion and Alamo Heights, the Rebels will assure themselves at least a share of the district title. Seguin’s bruising running backs shredded the Lehman defense last week, and the Matadors put up 32 points in a narrow defeat to district-leader Alamo Heights earlier in the season, so the vaunted Rebel D better be ready. The Hays offense will have to play better than it did against Clemens. The feeling here is the Rebs will play one of their best games of the season as they begin their march to the district title.
