We found several ways to celebrate the Christmas season with music, markets, and food. There is something to please the whole gang.


Andrews Sisters review hits San Marcos
Enjoy a special Christmas concert by Destination at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, at the San Marcos Public Library. The all-female trio presents the music of the Andrews Sisters as an old-time live radio program. The show will be bright with colorful costumes, filled with your favorite songs and provide fun for all ages. Linda and Michelle Sriro, along with Juli Dearrington, will bring the Christmas spirit to young and old alike.


 


Cocoa and Carols in Luling
Head out to Luling for “Cocoa and Carols” from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14. The festivities will include strolling and singing carols, a living Nativity scene and a hot chocolate competition among local businesses. Santa will be on hand, spreading holiday cheer at participating business.


 


Kim Kafka to play at Buda Grill & Gaslight Courtyard
Come out to hear the soulful sounds of singer Kim Kafka playing at the Buda Grill & Grocery Gaslight Courtyard. She will be singing Christmas favorites beginning at 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15.


 


Bar-B-Que, Holiday Bazaar and Silent Auction to benefit Hays High baseball
The Hays High School baseball team will host a Baseball Bar-B-Que, Holiday Bazaar and Silent Auction.  The event is from 2-8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, in the Hays High School main hall and cafeteria. Auction begins at 4 p.m. Dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m.


 


 


Classic Christmas opera comes to San Marcos
More than 80 members of the San Marcos High School Academy of Art and Communication (orchestra, band, choir, dance and theater), along with the SMART Orchestra – comprised of Texas State University students and staff – will perform “Amahl and the Night Visitors.” Show times are 7 p.m. Saturday, Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 15, 17 and 18; matinee performance at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16. At the San Marcos High School Performing Arts Center. Tickets available at the door.


 


Hispanic Center Christmas Mercado
Come enjoy an artisan market at the Hispanic Cultural Center in San Marcos from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16.
