Commuters and school children alike were met with a massive construction fence that was erected early Monday morning around Kyle’s historic depot. After years of delay, restoration work on the landmark has finally begun. This initial phase of restoration includes the removal of the ramps and moving the depot from its current foundation, electrical and plumbing work, demolition of the second story addition, and replacing roofing materials with tin. Phase I of the project is expected to be completed by mid-June.
