It was a close race, but in the end, Wild Flour Cakery & Boutique in downtown Buda got two more votes than Texas Pie Company on a recent Hays Free Press Facebook poll.
Readers and fans chose Wild Flour for its cakes and cupcakes. Wild Flour just opened in April and it’s already a hit.
“I couldn’t believe it,” said co-owner Amanda Rickman. “Especially compared to all the other bakeries around. It was kind of a shocker!”
Second place winner Texas Pie Company is beloved by many voters who could name their favorite dessert.
“Chocolate fudge,” posted one reader.
“Almond Joy Pie,” said another.
And an enthusiastic endorsement of the Peanut Butter Pie promises “it will change your life.”
Other favorite dessert businesses mentioned by readers were Chill Out, Bordeaux’s, The Sweet Stuff Bakery and Cake Dreams.
No matter what you’re in the mood for, or wherever you choose to have dessert, Buda and Kyle residents are lucky to have some sweet spots for finding a piece of pie or cake.
