STAFF REPORT
CommuniCare Health Centers has received a $253,117 capital grant from the St. David’s Foundation to help with construction costs for CommuniCare’s health-care center in Kyle, and bringing additional outpatient behavioral health services to Hays County.
“This grant will enable CommuniCare to provide critically needed behavioral health services to the under served patients from ages 9 to adult,” said Paul Nguyen, interim CEO of CommuniCare Health Centers. “St. David’s Foundation has a great track record of helping nonprofits provide access for those individuals who are at a disadvantage.”
Next to Science Hall Elementary, two miles east of Interstate 35, CommuniCare Health Centers-Kyle offers comprehensive medical, dental and behavioral health services to children and adults. The full-service primary care center, a 20,732-square-foot facility, offers medical services to all residents of Hays County and South Austin.
Founded in 1924, the St. David’s Foundation focuses on programs that improve access to primary health care in medically underserved areas. Since 1996, it has given more than $22 million to nonprofit organizations in Central Texas.
“CommuniCare’s newest health center in Kyle provides greatly needed primary and preventive care to the underinsured residents in the area,” said Earl Maxwell, CEO of the St. David’s Foundation.
