Grant Gillum

Dripping Springs Middle School was put on the map after rising eighth-grader Grant Gillum placed third in the National History Day competition with his individual website.

Gillum’s website, “Selling Space: The Significance of Propaganda During the Space Race” placed first in Texas to earn his way to the national level.

Sycamore Springs Middle School students, Michael and Stephanie Gearing and Luke Voss, were also national qualifiers.

All students began the school year by picking a topic that related to the annual theme, ‘Communication in History: The Key to Understanding’ and were judged on the quality of their research, interpretation of primary and secondary sources and the quality of the presentation of their findings.
