Dems need to help voters get IDs

Mr. Stone’s column appears to use all of the Democrat talking points in the debate about Voter ID. He even ended the column by seeming to suggest that Republicans want only indecent, loafing Texans to vote. Eric Holder recently made a speech to preachers that the right to vote is our most sacred right. If he and other Democrats truly believed that, then why not join Republicans in safeguarding that right by simply verifying that everyone voting in Texas is who they claim to be and is a citizen of Texas? Is it not strange that the party that claims compassion and claims that they only care for the downtrodden, won’t lift a finger to help them obtain something that would assist them in rising up in our economy and society, a valid ID. How does a person get by in Texas without an ID? You have to have an ID to get cigarettes, get beer, cash a check, fly, gain good employment, drive, obtain credit, etc, etc. So one would think that someone concerned about the poor would strive to help them get an ID. To most reasonable people it is obvious that there is another reason to oppose this and that the tired charge of racism and exclusion are tired and empty charges.
