STAAR summer camp info
Texas state education code requires Hays CISD to provide accelerated instruction to students who do not pass the STAAR assessments. Students who did not meet the Satisfactory Phase in Standard scale score will need to register and attend STAAR camp this summer. The camp will be held at Lehman High School from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. June 13-July 6. Breakfast will be served beginning at 7:35 a.m. Lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m.-noon. Transportation will be provided for students to attend the camp. Contact [email protected] for more information.
Changes to vaccinations at Hays CISD WELL Clinic
Students with private insurance that covers vaccinations are now required to get vaccinated at a private doctor’s office. Due to changes in state and federal law, the Hays CISD WELL Clinic is no longer accepting students for vaccinations with private coverage even if they are enrolled in the district. The Hays County Personal Health Department is also unable to provide vaccinations for those with private insurance that covers the cost. School requirements for attendance are not changing and students must still obtain the necessary minimum immunizations for attendance prior to enrolling and attending class. School officials emphasize that it is important that parents contact a child’s healthcare provider well ahead of time so arrangements can be made to receive vaccines before the first day of school.
Youth fitness camp planned
Hays CISD is offering a youth fitness camp this summer at Science Hall Elementary. Planned activities include tennis, basketball, soccer and fitness conditioning. All camp participants will receive a T-shirt. For information contact Whitney Self, summer youth Fitness Camp Director, 268-8500 extension 7815 or [email protected].
