Buda Chamber of Commerce
Tra la, it’s May, that merry month of May…and did I mention the last weekend of April, too! First a big thank you for all Buda Chamber volunteers for making our hotdog booth a big success at the Wiener Dog Races. A bigger thank you goes to chamber board member Lawrence Radinsky who organized the event. What a way to have fun selling 2,700 hot dogs on Saturday and Sunday. Hope you got the chance to tour the visiting Oscar Meyer Wiener Mobile on Saturday and to get pictures of us in the hotdog costume. Athena caught me with her camera, too…drat!
Buda First Thursday events continue to grow; more and more folks are strolling the streets and sampling the fine downtown restaurants along Main Street. We had five, count ‘em, musical groups playing that evening. Yes, I was on the piano at the Wild Flour.
Cabela’s celebrated Best Store of the Year award on May 8. Emily Dietman organized a wonderful BBQ event and management truly gave back to their employees. Those were nice trucks they gave away.
Our May membership luncheon was catered by Onion Creek Club, and we introduced attendees to Dr. Denise Smart, Dean of the McCoy College of Business, who spoke about the impact their program has on the local area and region.
It was a busy May 10 with two events. Sylvia Gallo staged a joint Buda/Kyle chamber ribbon cutting at her new shop, N & S Domestics, in Kyle. From there, Buda Chamber members trekked over to the new Tractor Supply Company to cut the ribbon at manager Mark Anderson’s freshly equipped store.
On May 17, the Onion Creek Seniors held a morning groundbreaking; in the afternoon, Tom Hagan hosted a chamber open house at Central Texas Children’s Home. We thank sponsors HEB/Buda, Chick-fil-A and Arby’s. Then it was on to Taste & Toast of Hays at Kyle Old Town and Community Impact News first anniversary party in San Marcos.
By the time you read this, Ray Hernandez and I will have made the Austin Chamber School Progress Report to the Hays School Board. We’re excited about all that’s happening in Buda! Like the slogan says….BE A PART OF IT. Call us at 295-9999.
